What if I’ve always been good enough?

I’m not a Fergie fanatic. I don’t keep up with her.  She can sing, and I like one of her solo songs. I like her songs with Wild Orchid better. I didn’t think her rendition of the National Anthem was terrible. It was DIFFERENT. Gasp! How dare she sing a jazzy version of the Anthem? (It has been done before, btw). I liked it. Whatever. I feel like I’m living on a different planet for liking it. I didn’t love it, but it was decent. Geez. Why all the bashing and hate? Because that is how people are.

I got my Fitbit…on a Sunday. Thank you, USPS. They did something right. The Fitbit gods knew how much I wanted my Fitbit and now I have it. Of course, I love having a Fitbit again and blah, blah. BUT the app doesn’t work with my phone. I’m using the app on my laptop which isn’t convenient at all. If I want to see my stats on the go, I can’t because I don’t carry my laptop around.  I rarely travel with my laptop. In fact, I try not to use my laptop much at all. (I want it to last as long as possible). A lot of people on the Fitbit discussion board returned it when they found out it didn’t work with their Samsung Galaxy J7.

I’m keeping my Fitbit Flex until I can get something with a screen. I’m not going to run out and buy one now because I just bought this. Another thing I don’t like about it is the charging situation. Unless I’m staying in a hotel like the one in LA with USB ports, I won’t have a way to charge my Fitbit on longer trips. The hotels at the beach I go to do not have USB ports for charging. The state park I often go to definitely doesn’t have USB ports. But other than these two things, I love my Fitbit. 😉

In case anyone is wondering, I don’t really like the Samsung Galaxy J7, but I refuse to pay a lot for a phone. I never have. But maybe I should? The phone runs kind of slow even though I have an SD card and put as much as possible on it instead of putting it on the phone itself.  I would love a phone with a better camera. And I  would love more space because most of the apps can’t be installed on an SD card. I love my apps, and unfortunately, I’ve had to delete a bunch of them recently due to lack of space. I just deleted Uber on Sunday even though I didn’t want to in case Lyft isn’t available. Not that I use car services a lot, but anything could happen.

I went to my second cycling class on Sunday. I wasn’t the worst in the class the whole time! I was only the worst for 55 minutes out of 60. LOL. I suck. I think I don’t have the right form for cycling. Maybe it is because I’ve never been on a real bike before? I only burned 259 calories. The average is probably about 500 calories. This seals it. I’m not paying for cycling classes. But I do have 2 more classes left on my Groupon, so I am going two more times.

The sauna was good, but not as great as last time because I was worried about my Fitbit. I know that’s lame. :/ But I got a text saying it had been delivered right before I got into the building and then I texted my mom to see if it was at her house. She said no. Sigh. So half of the time in the sauna, I was worried about my package. Did it get delivered to the wrong address? Etc. Anyway, it was there. The mail carrier did a good job by hiding it.

I think I’m going to plan on buying a package for the sauna only during the winter. That’s when I need the sauna. It’s pretty much spring here, so I don’t feel like I need it until next January/February. I really love meditating in the sauna. There’s nothing like it.

Work and training are kicking my ass! Today is only my second day of training. I’m just hoping for the best. People that said, “Act like you are starting a new job when you start training” weren’t lying. AHHHHH.

I hope I get to the park today. It will be near 80 degrees. I have to work overtime so I won’t be able to go to the park until near 4PM. Um, even the thought of how crowded the park will be makes me nervous. Gotta go get my brain ready for this long day. 🙂

Update: The park was excellent today. We (my dog and I) arrived around 3:45 and stayed for 35 minutes. We barely saw any dogs OR people. When I think it’s going to be a nightmare, it’s not. I need to stop trying to predict how many people will be at the park. I’m almost always wrong. I’m such a control freak. Anyway, tomorrow I have to work “late” too so I’ll probably go to the park at the same time. Watch tomorrow will be a total nightmare! Hahaha. I can’t stop trying to predict and control.

Know I shouldn’t say it

I said Trump would be president. So not happening! Anyone with that high of an unfavorable rating among women, can’t win. Impossible. It won’t be Cruz because everyone in Washington hates him. If the Republicans want to win they need a new candidate.

Everyone is dissing Bill Clinton on Twitter right now. Instead, I will do something different. I will say I admire the way he sticks up for Hillary (even though he is kinda defending his own policies).  Maybe he is just passionate about everything? I like his passion, but he is barking up the wrong tree with this crap. He needs to stop campaigning for her. That’s for sure. I can’t be nice about Bill anymore. I tried. Give me points for that.

I  received my free Fitbit Zip a week ago (from work). I’m so in love! Although, if it weren’t for the app, I’m not sure it is worth $50+. Since I didn’t pay for it, I may have a different perspective. The best things about it are the app and how securely the gadget fits on my clothes. You wouldn’t believe how important the latter thing is.  Sometimes I get out of bed at 2 AM to walk my dog, so I like to sleep with a pedometer on. My other pedometers would fall off during the night.

The app is essential. It tells me how much I’ve exercised each day. NOT WALKED, but actually exercised. I usually average about 22 minutes of exercise during the week. And much more on the weekend. I know it’s sad that I have a treadmill and only use it for 20 minutes on weekdays, but without it, I would do even less! I average 5,000 steps on weekdays and 8,000 on weekends. Not great, but I’m okay with it. 😉

17 days until the Tori Kelly concert (YAY!)

40 days until my Asheville vacay

65 days until the Ellie Goulding concert

I’ve figured out what I’m going to do about parking and the Tori Kelly concert. I’m going to park at Union Station and then take a cab/Uber to and from the venue. I was looking into to taking a bus to DC like I do most of the time since it’s so cheap (especially during the week), but I want to drive. I’m kind of weary of bus rides at the moment. I’ve been on too many planes recently. I love traveling, but I hate being stuck on a plane for hours. I know buses are different, but now they are the same to me.

It will take about 2 hours to get to Union Station from where I am. BTW, I’ve never been to Union Station, so I get to check that off my nonexistent list. When I do ride the bus to DC, I usually get off in China Town.

This week I…

Music of the week: Halsey, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, Ellie Goulding, Shania Twain, Mariah Carey, Alanis Morissette, Troye Sivan

Loving Kanye.

TV of the week:  House of Cards, basketball

Movie of the week:  I’m going to rent Spotlight tomorrow. Finally.

Books of the week:  Still reading A Mother’s Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold and Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson.

Plans for the weekend: I don’t have to go anywhere on Saturday!! YAY. Unfortunately, I do have to go out on Sunday. Bummer. I haven’t had a whole weekend at home in a long time. On Saturday, I’m working on my practicum and watching Spotlight. That is all. I should probably clean up or something. What a concept. On Sunday, I’m running a couple of errands and working on my practicum. If I could get 50 cases done…That is my goal. I have never done that many in two days. #goals

I’ll be getting my first Stitch Fix box soon! My next entry might be about that. I didn’t do a good job of opening my trunk from Trunk Club on Snapchat, but I did do a few videos. I will TRY to be better at opening my Stitch Fix on Snapchat (kat3x5). It’s a lighting issue. I might do it outside or just fix the damn lights. Anyway, I have a special unboxing I will not be mentioning on this blog (until my birthday in May). It’ll be live on Snapchat on Sunday morning. So excited. ****squeal****

Have a great weekend. Bye.

can’t pretend to be perfect

It was 82 degrees on Wednesday. On Sunday, it might snow. It will be light snow, probably mixed with rain, but it is still snow. Sob. What is going on? Why can’t winter just go away? We didn’t even have that bad of a winter. If it weren’t for that snowstorm, this winter would have been decent. I hate the cold, and I really hate snow.

Edit: Now it just looks like we are having a cold rainy day. I guess I can deal. 😉

I am so close to getting a free Fitbit Zip! It isn’t the fancy one, but I don’t care. I am getting it for free after all. I can’t wait to get it. I should have it in time for my Asheville/B-Day trip.

There it is! It is a glorified pedometer. 🙂   Click on the pic for more details. Oh, I’m getting it free through a wellness program at work.

I can’t keep eating ramen noodles. I tried to lower my grocery bill that way, but UGH! It makes me feel like crap and I gained a pound after only eating it for a week! This can’t continue. I’m done. Food costs too much. Living in this neighborhood costs too much (but I love the house). etc. etc.

I just got back from taking my dog to the park. The park is 2.8 miles from my house. (thanks, GPS). I had a good time. I know my dog had a better time. 🙂 We stayed there longer than I anticipated. I was supposed to do yard work today, but now college basketball is about to come on. Basketball is why I’m off today and tomorrow. I have to watch it. #Priorities

I snap chatted the whole “day at the park”. I was going to post a pic of me on Snapchat since the pic only lasts 24 hours, but I decided against it. One day I will snap a pic of myself. Anyhow, here are a few pics that didn’t make Snapchat:

This week I…

Music of the week: Andra Day, Jewel, Toby Lightman, Mariah Carey, The 1975, Troye Sivan, Hailee Steinfeld, Sia

I love Andra Day. Her music has been getting me through the week. Her voice can make anything sound good. Check her out if you are unfamiliar with her music. I chose a cover for this post, but her album is amazing.

TV of the week:  Mad Men, basketball, political stuff

March Madness! yay. All basketball, all the time.

Movie of the week: none.

Books of the week:

  • Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (page 334)

There was something wrong with her. She did not know what it was but there was something wrong with her. A hunger, a restlessness. An incomplete knowledge of herself.

I doubt I finish both books before they are due at the library, but I’m trying. This is what happens when you place a bunch of books on hold, and they all become available at the same time.

This weekend I will be doing yard work, tons of reading, my practicum, and watching basketball. The latter is what I’m looking forward to the most. I hope my teams win (UVA, Duke, and VCU). Happy weekend!
