I don’t trust nobody

I was supposed to write this entry tomorrow…but my schedule has changed and I have news!

I am a professional tarot reader. I got my first sale. Whatever. I’ve done 65+ free email readings so I already considered myself somewhat professional. 😉

OH FUCK NO! She just emailed me and wants to know where her reading is? WTF? This probably won’t end well. If she asks for a refund, she can have it. If someone is already pissed, then they aren’t going to be happy with the reading. SHIT. Now I’m scared to check my email. I emailed her back and told her she’ll have her reading by Sunday night.

People. Sigh. I was going to start her reading tomorrow and then send it on Sunday morning. I’m swamped this weekend. I have her reading to do PLUS a free reading. And I’m working overtime, taking my mom grocery shopping, and school starts this weekend. It’s just orientation, but I want to get started on week 1 since the assignments are already posted.

I’ll check my email after I finish this post to see if there is an update. Geez. There goes any excitement. Yes, I state on my website that it takes 3 days. It used to say five days. Lol. I work for a living. I don’t do tarot full-time. Oh well. At least I made a sale…even if it doesn’t work out. ???? Just trying to look on the bright side.

Oh, I’m now a member of the American Federation of Astrologers. I just paid a somewhat low fee. To get certified, I think it’s $25 and an EIGHT HOUR TEST. Are they nuts? But am I going to go after it? Probably. They are based in Arizona (Why are 90% of American astrologers on the west coast?) They can’t promise a testing place where I live. But I’m willing to bet I can take the test in DC. They say they will work with you. I’m fine with that. Or I’m willing to go to Maryland, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania.

I was going to try to get certified in less than 2 years, but with money issues. Nah. I have the $25 to take the test, but I need more knowledge to pass the test. I would like to take at least 3 astrology classes at the college before I try to get certified. I’m going this winter. I’m 95% sure I’m not going this spring. I am considering taking my second class this summer. But I’m not sure. I will be very disappointed if I can’t take a class next winter. I would like to be able to take at least one class a year.

I just checked my email. My first (irate?) customer hasn’t emailed me back yet. I’m still scared. But it is a lot off my back if she asks for a refund. So I’m fine either way. I just don’t want her to ask for a refund AFTER I do the reading. My mentor and I talked about that, and she says I shouldn’t give the money back after I spent time on the reading. I agree, but I would also feel bad if she hated the reading. Double sigh.

Quick Nutrisystem update: I started on Monday. Today is Friday. I’ve lost 1-2 pounds. I guess that’s not bad. But the commercial promises more weight loss during the first week. Haha. Last time I started I was on vacation at a state park (I kid you not) so I walked A LOT. I think I lost at least 4-5 pounds that first week. I can’t remember. This week, I’ve only exercised once. Lame, I know. I just want to lose 15 pounds in 3 months. But I would be happy with 10. I’m not overweight, but I’m close to being overweight.

There is so much more I wanted to say, but this post is so long. So before I do “weekly”, I’ll just add a quick reminder about Bank Boost. I think it will sell out over the weekend, but it has NOT sold out yet. It’s a great course for the price ($35), plus Sarah is a great teacher. She’s awesome. Love her content.

Join to get ideas on ways to earn extra money. You’ll get ideas from Sarah and I also got a bunch of ideas from the group.

This week I…

Music of the week (my top 8 most listened to): Lake Street Drive, Taylor Swift, Alessia Cara, Sam Smith, Camilla Cabello, Rachel Kerr, Ariana Grande, Missy Higgins

I watched half of Taylor Swift’s concert special on Netflix. I plan to finish it soon. I applaud her for singing live unlike others *coughBEYONCEcough* even though she isn’t a great singer. She was off key sometimes, but she was real. I’m not the biggest Swift fan (only because I think a couple of her albums are just plain bad), but she puts on a great show. Others could learn from her.

TV of the week:  The Innocent Man, Vanderpump Rules

I wanted to blog more about The Innocence Project. After watching 4 episodes The Innocent Man, I decided to pledge to donate to The Innocence Project every month. I have it recurring. I’m not giving a lot. Just $12.50 a month. It’s time to put my money where my passion/anger is. Our “justice” system is sickening. I will blog about this more. Trust me. 😉 If you believe in DNA testing so guilty people can go to jail and innocent people can go free, please consider supporting The Innocence Project. They do such good work.

Movie of the week: None

Podcasts of the week:  All in With Chris Hayes, The Astrology Podcast, So You Wanna Be a Witch, Generation Why, Where Should We Begin?

Books of the week: Now reading:

None of these are school books. LOL. So I’m probably going to give up reading all but one when I have to read my textbook. I’m almost done with Moonology. I want to do vocational astrology when I become a professional astrologer. I want to do tarot career readings and help people find which jobs they are most suited for when it comes to astrology. Not just suited for, they have to like it. I’m supposed to be in law or an accountant. Uh, I tried with accounting. I suck at those kinds of details. I learned that in college. I think I would do okay in law, but I would have to have a job where a ton of talking isn’t involved. Besides, lawyers scare me. I’m intimidated by them so I couldn’t even be a paralegal.

Plans for the Weekend: I already listed what I have to do this weekend. Since I don’t have to buy much food, I’m going to try to find a way to maximize my time while my mom is grocery shopping. I will probably take my textbook with me.

School kind of starts Sunday. I’m a little confused by the schedule so I don’t know when the first assignments are due. I was going to blog about how much participation we have to do. Shit. Aren’t the assignments hard enough? Nope, participation is a lot of the grade. I will probably spend more time trying to come up with something to say than writing essays and doing the quizzes. bummer. :/

Have a great weekend! Thanks for reading. 🙂

I don’t wanna just be fine

Work just got crazy scary. March will be hard. That is all I can say. I can do it! I have to believe that. I’m trying not to get too stressed about it.

I bought a beanie from a small 3 person company in California. It was $15.00. I opened the package in front of D. She started judging me for buying it. I said something like, “This was handmade in America. I’m proud to support an American business”. Then she said I sounded like Trump. ROFL!

Support things made in America. I buy American when I can even though it usually costs more. Anyway, the company also makes maxi skirts. I’m getting one made for me in April. I can’t decide on the color. I will probably pick gray. The name of the store is Loft415. Not only do they make everything, but their fabric also comes from America. Very important.

I can’t wait to get my maxi skirt. 🙂 Their items are made to order, so it takes a little longer than ordering from a regular store, but my beanie didn’t take long at all.

Depo-Provera update: My period is now 11 days late!!! Wow. I don’t know what to think. I’m just grateful it didn’t come on time. And I hope it never comes. As far as weight gain goes, I lost a pound. I was shocked when I weighed myself and saw a weight loss. I weigh myself once a week.

I’ve been eating okay. I’m not really dieting, but I am trying to keep my calories under 1,500, and I exercise on average about 4-5 days a week. I’m trying a new thing for lunch. I’m eating a banana and yogurt for lunch instead of my normal lunch of processed foods. Today is the first day I’m trying it.

I’m going to start drinking green juice on Saturday. Green juice is not cheap. If it works for me, I will ask for that for my birthday. I’m trying to get off coffee and/or diet Mountain Dew. I don’t drink a ton of coffee. I drink about one cup a day, but I used to drink less. I would love to drink green juice instead of MD. I will link to what I ordered if I like it in a future blog post.

Gotta go.

Life after Nutrisystem *Update

The following is what I eat after being on Nutrisystem. I started at 142 pounds in May of 2015. I currently weigh 125. I stopped eating NS food around mid-September. Thoughts on cheat days are at the bottom of the post.

Breakfast (each bullet point is a different option)

  • 3 slices of turkey bacon and a boiled egg
  • 2 slices of Aunt Jemima french toast and a boiled egg
  • 1 piece of  Nonni’s biscotti and a boiled egg

Morning snack

  • 100 calorie bag of mixed walnuts and almonds

Afternoon snack

  • Fiber one cinnamon coffee cake (90 calories)
  • Special K or Kashi crackers

  • chicken with broccoli or cabbage

  • 1 Pepperidge Farm cookie

As you can see, I still need to find a dinner alternative. I just haven’t gotten around to it. Plus, chicken is so easy to cook. I can bake enough chicken for about two weeks, and I’m done with dinner.

Overall, I’m pleased with my menu. Although, I wish I could come up with more lunch alternatives,  I can’t find much I like that would fit. On some days, I’m not in the mood for a bar, but I eat it anyway.

Re: cheat days

Where do I begin? Cheat days started out fine when it was only once a month, but Thanksgiving time destroyed me. I used not to get hungry eating the above diet. Now I crave ‘bad’ food. I’m currently working on that. I’m just trying to ignore my cravings and stick to my plan.

I won’t have random cheat days planned. My mom’s birthday is in January. I’m taking her out to eat. That will be a cheat day. My birthday will probably also be a cheat day. And any vacations* might include cheat days. That’s about it. So in a year, I plan on having less than seven cheat days.

*I try not to go on vacations where I have to eat out. Besides, I don’t go on a lot of vacations. In May, I’m going to a cabin with a full kitchen (in state or North Carolina) so I can bring my food. No excuse for a bunch of cheat days.

Life after Nutrisystem

I lost 18-19 pounds on Nutrisystem. I started in mid-May weighing 142.  I weigh about 124 pounds. Success! 🙂 But it’s over and now I have to go back to regular food. I’m going to have cheat days once a month. On those days, I will most likely eat out or order in. My next cheat day is October 9 or 10. I’m ordering my favorite non-Italian food (meatball sub, cheese fries, and red velvet cake) from a local Italian restaurant. Can’t wait.

Anyway, here is my diet after NS. Each bullet is a different option.

  • 2 slices of turkey bacon, 1 boiled egg, fiber one brownie
  • 2 slices of french toast

Morning Snack

  • almonds
  • turkey sausages
  • tuna ranch 80 calories packet

  • bar with yogurt
  • tuna salad w/crackers
  • mini cheeseburger with yogurt

Afternoon snack

  • whole grain crackers (Kashi or Kellogg)
  • fruit (most likely a banana or pear)

  • chicken with 2-4 servings of broccoli or cabbage

That doesn’t seem like a weight loss diet to me. But it is low calorie. I think it is around 1,500 calories. Yeah, I could use some options for dinner, but I won’t be having the same kind of chicken every day. I may have fish on some days. Or turkey burgers. I haven’t looked up the calories of those things so I don’t know if they will fit. I love my new menu. Not a lot of cooking. 😉 Thanks to Nutrisystem for teaching me how and when to eat.

I should be studying for my certification test instead of ‘blogging’. Oh well, I’m the queen of procrastination. This was a quick post to type. I just copied the menu from my planner. Gotta go. Instead of studying, I think I’ll read. #Fail

Why can’t I be careless?

I got my first “I’m too smart to need Nutrisystem”. Well, good for you! I didn’t need it, of course. But I wanted to do something. I didn’t want to continue gaining so I tried something. I think I needed discipline. I wasn’t going to spend all this money on NS and NOT follow the plan. I was always intrigued by having food sent to me. I chose NS because I had heard the most about them (great advertising!).  After the experience I’ve had, I would recommend NS. But there are caveats:

  • High in sodium. This is controversial for some reason. I will never understand why. This is one of the reasons I would not want to stay on NS forever. I’m scared the sodium will give me high blood pressure. My BP is fine at this moment but who knows what a few more months would do? Some people claim drinking lots of water washes out the sodium. I have no idea whether this is true. I don’t drink as much water as I should on most days. I would tell other people to ask their doctor before starting…especially if high BP runs in their family.
  • Processed foods. Most people know that going in due to the advertising.
  • High in carbs. I love carbs so not an issue for me.
  • Expensive. Some people say it is less than what they spent prior to NS, but all those people admit to eating out. I rarely eat out because I can’t afford it so NS is expensive to me. There are numerous ways to get the price down. Please don’t go on the website and sign up unless there is a special. My biggest complaint is that some people pay $200 while others pay $400 for the exact same plan. Not cool.

The good outweighs the bad for me. My current weight is 128. I’m still trying to get to 125. Buddha willing. 🙂

One more important thing: It is not just about the food! If the person is willing to learn, they will learn HOW to eat so they can get off Nutrisystem. A few years ago this wasn’t the case but now (credit to NS), there are tools to teach you once you leave the program. Some people consider this a diet, but I consider it how I should have been eating all along: 5-6 small meals a day.

I haven’t figured anything out

Congrats (insert my name)! You Reached Your Goal!

You’ve lost 14 lbs in 80 days, we knew you could do it!

woohoo! That message is from Nutrisystem.  I now weigh 129 which isn’t really my goal. My goal is 125. I know that will be tough to maintain in the winter…unless I go to the gym 2-3 times a week. Not happening. But I will  be eating healthier than I was before. I do expect to gain 2-4 lbs during the winter like I always do. Mowing the lawn is really a secret blessing. But don’t tell anyone I said that. shh!

Time to do another what I eat on Nutrisystem post. This is what I eat on MOST days. This menu will change drastically after I start on frozen foods at the end of next week. I won’t even bother updating this list again until I’m off Nutrisystem because the food will be so varied.

Breakfast: muffin with 1 large boiled egg

Snack: almonds OR 2 turkey sausages (same # of calories)

Lunch: bar with nonfat yogurt OR tuna salad with pita bread and nonfat yogurt OR a mini cheeseburger with nonfat yogurt

Snack: crackers or Fiber One brownie

Dinner: pizza with 2-4 servings of broccoli

Dessert: nachos or cookies or cake 🙂

The key is eating every 2-3 hours. And no, I don’t get tired of eating the same things on most days. Pre-NS, I used to eat the same dinner and breakfast every single day.

Never said I was brave

The confederate flag hasn’t gone down yet in South Carolina. I just can’t believe this is what it took. People have been fighting to get that flag down for years. I remember first hearing about it in the late 90s. Not to make light of anything, but thanks to the media for no longer talking about Rachel Dolezal. I’m specifically thinking of Melissa Harris Perry. Melissa did an exclusive interview with her. I know she was planning on talking about it on her show for probably at least an hour. She could have talked about her but she was wise enough to know that that single story doesn’t really matter in the big scheme of things. It didn’t stop the comedy shows from making fun of Dolezal but they aren’t news outlets so whatever.

Not much of a Nutrisytem update if you read my last entry. The cheat day worked. If you are stalled at a weight for 2 weeks, I recommend doing a cheat day. It works! I lost 2 pounds! I’m now 132 lbs. Man, if I could see 130 on the scale…The cheat day was delicious and well worth it. 🙂 I had lasagna, french fries and red velvet cake. I’m getting my last NS box in about 2 weeks. That makes me sad but I will be saving money on food.

The things I thought I would make a profit on, I haven’t yet (besides the luggage). But the other stuff? Selling well on eBay. I think I could possibly get all my money back just selling on eBay. Confession: I hate shipping things…but I need to move inventory so #hustle.

I’m nervous about my yard sale tomorrow. It is supposed to rain. 😦  I didn’t put the ad in the newspaper due to the more than 50% chance of rain. So I’m just relying on a free service. People have contacted me based on the free ad. I haven’t been of much help to these people but I did respond.  At least people are seeing it.

I know I should be ready for the sale but I’m not. I’ve been working more hours (for no extra pay) and working on my practicum in the afternoons. I’m getting up at the crack of dawn on Saturday to do most of the stuff. The yard sale doesn’t start until 10 (long story) so if I get up at 5 or 6, I should be okay. My main concern is my clothing rack. If I can’t hang clothes up…ugh! It is so much easier to sell clothes when people can look at them like they would at a store.

This week I…

Music of the week: Lissie, Kelly Clarkson, Florence + The Machine, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, Kina Grannis, Hilary Duff

Watched: Veep, Big Brother, Grey’s Anatomy, James Holmes trial

The moment when your eyes are red and people think something happened. No, you were just watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Movies of the week: I watched Divergent and Gone Girl. Both get 4 out of 5 stars. I definitely want to at least read book 1 of the Divergent series now. Gone Girl was good but I remember too much from reading the book. It is probably a much better movie going into it blind. I see most people liked it a little more than I did.

Books of the week: I finished Everyday I fight by Stuart Scott. Great book. I would recommend this book to everyone. 4.5 stars.

Now starting Yes Please by Amy Poehler and  Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found by Rebecca Alexander. I have a bad feeling about Yes Please based on other people’s reviews. I don’t think I’m going to LOVE it but I rarely love all the books I read. lol.
