I don’t need friends to be happy

That was the name of a song I made up when I was 8 years old! I don’t remember all the lyrics but the chorus was:

I don’t need friends to be happy

I don’t need friends to be happy

I don’t need friends to be happy

LOL. I used to sing it to myself  during ‘playtime’ when I was on the swings. No one was around me so no need to feel self conscious about singing it.

This all comes back to the dog, of course. Sam Smith (singer) said that people told him to get a dog so he wouldn’t feel lonely while living alone in his flat. He ended up not keeping the dog when he realized that the dog was a pain in the ass and that HE WAS NOT THAT LONELY. Well that applies to me too. Of course I already know this. I’ve lived alone most of my adult life. I’ve NEVER been lonely. Never wanted someone to come home to….not even a pet.

Unlike Sam, I’m an animal lover so I’m not looking to give my pain in the ass dog away but he is testing me. When I heard Sam say that, I could relate so much.  It made me laugh hysterically….especially since I just got a new dog! Everyone doesn’t need someone in their house. I’m so territorial, I’m surprised I can even tolerate pets.

That is my childhood story. I knew at a very young age that people suck I don’t need people up my ass. hahaha.

For International Gift Exchange Day, I got the best thing evah! Knitter’s Pride Deluxe Interchangeable Long Tip Needles!! I used them for the first time last night. They are soooo smooth. I love them. The needles are wooden and very colorful.  There are so many parts in the kit. I’m worried about losing something since I lose everything.

I’m unexpectedly off today. I finally get a chance to study and work on my practicum. Tomorrow I’m going to spin class. And that is all I have planned for the weekend. Have to get some cleaning in since I have the time.

Speaking of spin/going to the gym. I lost 2 pounds and have kept it off for three weeks….so that’s official! 😉  That probably seems like nothing but losing weight is hard.  I just want to get down to 135. I think it will be easier during the spring and summer. I have less than 8 lbs to lose. I can do this.

TV for the week: Pretty Little Liars, NBA basketball

Movie of the week:  I watched Stephen King’s Carrie.  Next I’ll watch the 1999 version. I saw that one in the theater. I remember really liking it. I haven’t seen it in over a decade.

Book of the week: Coming Clean: A Memoir by Kimberly Rae Miller

Knitting projects of the week:  No pics this week. My mom loved the cowl I made so much (pic in my last entry) that she wants me to make a bunch for next year’s Xmas presents! Of course anxiety steps in when I hear her say that cause the one I did make had mistakes. But if she is willing to buy most of the yarn, I’m willing to make a few cowls. I love making cowls, I just don’t need 15 of them for myself.

I’m working on my afghan, scarf and a lace project. The sweater is driving me nuts. I’ve ripped it out at least 3 times. I hate that yarn. It splits too easily. Sigh. I don’t know what’s going on with that.

Craftsy is having a supplies sale. It isn’t good as their Black Friday sale. I checked. But it is still awesome. I brought 3 hanks of yarn. I so can’t afford to keep doing this!!! Someone slap me. (I’m sure there are plenty of volunteers for that).  See below for links on the sale:

I totally fell for this sale. I’m a sucker for a course…especially from Craftsy. They also have yarn on sale and I brought 4 hanks! The good stuff. It was a bargain. I can’t wait to get it.

I do feel a bit mixed on sharing a sale. SPEND MONEY. Uh, no – but this is for learning and hell, I did it. I just love Craftsy so much and I will continue to share their (good) sales. After I work on my practicum tonight, I’m going to get started with a small lace project from my new class: Lace Knitting: Basics and Beyond with Eunny Jang . I’m so excited…and I’m going on a tangent. /end

I won’t say all this every time I post a sale, I just want to point out they have cooking, photography, woodworking, knitting, jewelry making, sewing, crocheting classes AND MORE. So far I have enrolled in knitting, cooking and crocheting classes. The best classes I’ve taken so far are Crochet Basics & Beyond (w/Kim Werker) and Knit Lab.

All the classes are not great. Read the reviews first. They do offer money back if you don’t like a class but I’ve never tried to do that. Another thing I don’t like is when they consider a class ‘beginner’ but it is clearly intermediate. Hate that.

Oh well, I’m going to go now.  Bye. 🙂

I knew that panic was over

Tired. I had to take a nap during lunch yesterday. Woe is me, I know (sarcasm). I stayed up late for two nights in a row, trying to follow what was going on in Ferguson, MO. Today my TV is off. #NoNewsDay. I‘m still following the news a little on Twitter.  I worked and ran errands today but I also slept. (Yes, I know I’m privileged to be able to turn off the news and this story is simply gone).

———-

It looks like I’m going to Las Vegas by myself in October. That’s fine with me but I kind of wanted to share the experience with my mom. She deserves to stay in the awesome hotel (more like an apartment) for a few days. Oh well. :/

Why didn’t anyone tell me? Craftsy* has an affiliate program! I’ve taken 7 classes from them. Hello? It is about to be 8 classes. When you sign up as an affiliate, you get a FREE class!!!! I chose “The Art of Stir-Frying” for my freebie. How many knitting classes can I take? I wanted something different. This will be my first online cooking class. I took an in person cooking class about 3 years ago. It was expensive and I did learn useful things but I think online may be better. I’ll review it after I have time (and the materials) to make something. YAY, Craftsy!

(*disclaimer: all craftsy links are affiliate)

The temp agency did call me. However, it isn’t going to work out. The main reason is the training would take place while I’m working my full-time job. I can’t take a day off with short notice during the summer. In February? Maybe. And I would only work about 22 hours a month. That would help a little but I might need more hours than that. I hope she can find me something else…something without day time training.

I did not hear back about the job interview. 😦 Due to the way she contacted me first, I feel like the job could have been mine. Damn. Missed opportunity. It isn’t like I get a bunch of opportunities. This is not a good feeling. 😦

I have made so many mistakes with this scarf but I just keep knitting:

I’m going to eat dinner and watch a movie. After that I will prepare for my Ebay auction. I’m selling ‘like new’ books this week. I have one textbook that I’m hoping will bring in at least $50. Anything for cash. 🙂
