initial thoughts on Le Tote

Le Tote has been branded as a Netflix for clothes. You pay a fee ($49) and you get clothes and accessories. You can send them back in 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months. And then you get “new” clothes. You get to pick what you want if you choose to or they will pick for you base on what you like. New is in quotes because the clothes are used (but clean). LeTote has clothes/accessories from Jessica Simpson, Levi, Betsy Johnson, Nine West, BCBGeneration, French Connection and more.

I got my first LeTote box at a 20% discount on Thursday. I told them no dresses, skirts, bracelets, or shorts. So my box is pretty boring, but that is my fault. I work at home and it is getting cold so I don’t have a need for dresses even though their dresses and skirts look divine. Please don’t judge Le Tote based on my clothes I post here. 😉  Go to the website and you can see what they offer. (If you click on that link you get $25 off your first box or you can just go to

One more note: Even though I am kind of small (123 lbs and about 5’5″), I told them to send me medium tops because my stomach is not flat. One of the medium blouses was a little too big, but I’m wearing it anyway. The “stylist” sent me a small top that I did not choose. That was kind of snug. Once again I’m still wearing it. It would have been great in a medium. The medium sweater fit perfectly.

Anyway, here is what I got in box #1:

blouse by Octavia
Blouse by Summer & Sage
sweater by Fate
sweater by Fate
earrings by Noir Luxe
earrings by Noir Luxe
necklace by Ava
necklace by Ava

My favorite thing are the earrings. I thought it would be the necklace. I’m wearing those earrings every time I go out until I send these items back. Love them. I would keep them, but I’m trying to be good. (You can keep any item or all the items for a discount. The earrings are $20 with the discount).

If I worked in the office, I would totally keep this subscription. I like wearing different clothes. But since I go out only once or twice a week during the winter, I don’t need different clothes so I don’t know what I’m going to do. I would try Stitch Fix, but you don’t get to wear all the clothes. You can only try on their clothes and wear what you want to buy. That is the biggest difference between the two. I probably will try Stitch Fix this summer when I actually leave the house from time to time. 🙂  I’m sending this box back to Le Tote on November 10 because I want to wear the jewelry as much as possible.

Overall, I like Le Tote. I’m going to skip January since my lifestyle doesn’t call for new clothes that often. The biggest con for me is that some of the clothes come wrinkled. LOL. I hate ironing but luckily for me, I didn’t have to iron anything in this box. I don’t think the price is that bad because you get to wear all the clothes and accessories.

I will have more thoughts and maybe more posts on Le Tote once I get more clothes. These are just my initial thoughts.

Forever 21 Haul

We all know Forever 21 clothes rarely last a long time. However, some minimalists I know of will shop at Forever 21 because they are only looking for things that will last ONE season. That way the person can still shop a few times a year…if shopping is a hobby that works out great. Most people insist that your capsule wardrobe must have expensive items that will last, but I like the idea of mixing both. I have high quality items and F21 items.

Here are the items from my F21 fall/winter haul. It isn’t that exciting. Lots of gray. The first item is a pair of yoga pants. I had no idea I would like them so much.  I wore them out yesterday. So comfy! I would have gotten two pairs. This is the only thing I didn’t take a photo of myself. I just snagged it from the website:

yoga pants
another sweater
another sweater
more gray

simple shirt

some color!
some color!

That’s all folks. That is what I will be mostly wearing through March. I’m such a fashionista.  (<–sarcasm) The clothes are not fashionable, but it fits a  minimalist wardrobe perfectly.

This week I…

Music of the week: Hamilton (Broadway Cast), Janet Jackson, Carly Rae Jepsen, James Bay Selena Gomez, Leona Lewis, Jewel, Jennifer Lopez

TV of the week:  Lost (season 1)

I doubt I rewatch all of Lost but starting it seemed like a good idea at one point.

Movies of the week:  none

Books of the week:  Still reading Soul Shifts: Transformative Wisdom for Creating a Life of Authentic Awakening, Emotional Freedom, &  Practical Spirituality (on page 107) by Dr. Barbara De Angelis and  Miss Minimalist: Inspiration to Downsize, Declutter, and Simplify  (38% through) by Francine Jay. Soul Shifts has some good reminders, but I don’t like the way it is written. I don’t like her anecdotes. I’m just going to speed read through the rest of it.

I just started Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More by Janet Mock. Janet is a trans women. I bet this book is more insightful than any self-help book. It’s great so far. I find myself relating to the LGBT community.

Planner update:

plans of the week
plans of the week

It’s time to make a decision on what planner I will use for 2016. I’m leaning towards Inkwell Press A5 inserts even though I’m not crazy about horizontal layouts. I think I’m going to order one and try it. I will put it in my gold Kikki.K. I’m impressed with Inkwell because they have the best paper quality on the planner market and their planners are goal oriented.

For my personal sized planner, I going with an Esty seller’s inserts. Her company is called Life is Crafted. She is in Austrailia. The shipping of those inserts should be interesting. I’ve had different results with shipping from Austrailia. They are kind of expensive (but worth it).

I feel a surge coming over me

Warning: long entry

I haven’t had water for so long…I don’t even know how long it has been. ( 8 or 9 days?) I would love to be able to shower when I want. Or to be able to wash my food so I can cook it. I had to go to my mom’s house to shower today.  Forget water (not really), MY JURY DUTY WAS CANCELLED! Woohoo! It doesn’t mean it is over. I’m still on call until early March. I was thrilled to get that call…but I had to work on Thursday. LOL. I was actually looking a little forward to a 4 day vacay from work.  At least I’m off today. 3 day vacay!

I have an official name for my Etsy shop. I just added “Miss” to my dream title. It’s brilliant, I know. (sarcasm). I registered it. Now I just have to list stuff to sell. ha.

I got my $150 worth of stuff from Amazon.* In case anyone missed it: I won a gift card for that amount. I didn’t just buy this stuff with MY money. I love stuff but not this much. 😉 And the haters at work are gonna hate. WOW. Being a lucky bitch can bring out the worst in some people…or most people. Or ALL people. 😉

Back to the stuff. *I got most of my stuff. One of my packages is missing. Amazon split my order into 6 packages. (thx amazon!) UPS was not ready for the snow. They were understaffed. I had to go pick up my stuff because it was never going to come. I drove 25 minutes to get to the UPS center.  Most of my packages were in horrible shape BUT the stuff inside was  surprisingly okay. And my Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Pens, 3-Pack are MIA. I’m not really worried about it. I will probably contact Amazon in a week and they will send me a replacement.  They have really good customer service or maybe UPS will get back on their feet and deliver my stuff but after hearing and seeing how chaotic everything is  there, I don’t think they are going to find that tiny package. The flimsy envelope (thanks again Amazon!) is probably sitting somewhere destroyed. And I bet someone just took the pens for themselves.

Picture time:

FIRST let me post what I brought today with my Macy’s Xmas gift card:

Nine West Hadley Tote
Nine West Hadley Tote

The black one looks so much better but I would have had to pay more out of my pocket. So I decided to go with the silver. I love silver….just not when it comes to bags. It is a Nine West bag. I used to be a loyal Nine West handbag person for YEARS. Then I started buying other brands.

Anyhow, this Hadley tote bag retails at $79. All the bags (except silver) are on sale today at Macy’s for $46. There was one silver left and it was cheaper than the black bags because someone returned it so I decided to go with it. I blame Organized Like Jen for me buying this bag. She recently posted about a big $150 Cuyana bag she brought and I had to have one like that after I saw hers.  So thanks Jen! 🙂 This bag is so large, I will only use it for getaways or when I have to have a bunch of stuff with me (like today).

Now onto Amazon’s things. Here is my new Epson XP-310 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

sleek looking printer
sleek looking printer

It is already being a pain in the ass. LOL. But I read the reviews first and I knew what would probably happen. I’m going to try to fix everything by tomorrow. At least the wireless is set up and it prints.

OMG. People were so right about Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens! They are awesome. I didn’t know what to expect. People raved about the Flair pens too but I’m going to give mine away in gift bags and RAKs (random acts of kindness).  The Flair pens are like markers. I don’t want to write with freaking markers in my planners or anywhere! But the Staedtler pens – drool. I’m thinking about asking for the 20 pack for my birthday. How nerdy is that? Try the Staedtler pens. You won’t reget it.

I can’t say enough good things about Project Life Kit, Mini, Gold Foil. I didn’t think I liked gold until I saw this:

Heidi Swapp gold kit
Heidi Swapp gold kit

I’m going to play around with this tonight and make some stuff for my planners. There are duplicates so I will give some of this kit away in RAKs.

What else can I blab about? One last thing. No picture for this. Omron HJ-203 Pedometer with Activity Tracker I will be using this everyday starting tomorrow. I need some motivation since it is so cold so I’m hoping this will help. I can’t wait until March/April when I can take my dog to the park during my lunch break (once a week).

Should I add “weekly” to this entry? This is the longest. entry. evah. I have to end the week this way…since I watched TWO movies this week. Yes, I have turned into a cinephile. No, not really.

This Week I…

Music for the week:  Imagine Dragons, Sam Smith, Carrie Underwood, Paloma Faith, Brandy Clark, Fifth Harmony, Whitney Houston, Butterfly Boucher

This entry is too long for me to go on about how good the new Imagine Dragons album is. (full of angst!)

TV for the week: My 6oo lb life, basketball

I’m watching a NBA game right now and that is why it took so, so, so long for me to type out this entry. side tracked.

Movies of the week: I wasn’t that impressed with In Your Eyes. I thought it was going to be more sci-fi instead it was more romantic comedy. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5. I only watched Labor Day because I really like Kate Winslet. What a surprise. It is a good movie. I enjoyed it more than most people who rated it. It probably is because of Kate. I only took forever to watch it because the reviews weren’t that good. 4 out of 5 stars. Now I want to read the book.

Books of the week: Get Rich, Lucky Bitch!: Release Your Money Blocks and Live a First Class Life by Denise Thomas – on page 241. Almost done. This book is probably too woo-woo for most people. I’ll do a review once I’m done.

Knitting Projects of the week: I only knitted one day this week – today while I was waiting for my oil to be changed. I worked on my purple cowl.

This is my longest entry ever! I think. Does it count as an entry if no one reads it? Does this count as a blog if no one reads it? ROFL. 😉 😉 😉 Now I can watch basketball with all my attention. Go Wizards!

Wake when I wanna, if I wake at all

I’m waiting for my Amazon gift card (coming by mail) and my large planner from kikki.K (AKA A5 Filofax). I did receive my medium planner from  kikki.K. They shipped it express all the way from Australia on January 29th. And I got it on February 3rd. Talk about fast shipping! FREAKING Australia. I’m a little worried about my large planner though. It should have come the next day (Feb 4th). I hope it didn’t get lost. I wish they would provide a tracking number. That would solve my uneasiness.

I also got my Plum Paper Planner! YAY. It took almost 5 weeks to get to me but they do customize the planners. I get to start using it February 23 instead of March 1 because they added extra days. Time for a countdown….

18 days until I get to use my Plum Paper Planner

97 days until I go on my 3 night cabin vacay

Which is more exciting? haha.

Picture time. I have inserted most of my Erin Condren planner into my 3 ring binder. It looks ridiculous because it is so small. But it is useful so far. I’m tracking eBay sales in it. And also keeping a list of what I already have to sell and where I can get things to sell. I have to get rid of a bunch of stuff first. I’m going to a flea market in early spring to make room for inventory of “new” stuff. Whatever doesn’t sell at the flea market gets trashed or donated.

Here is my Plum Paper Family Planner:

I used a note to cover my name. I can’t believe they spelled my name right! Everything is perfect. The only thing I don’t love is how the cover is just regular card stock. Couldn’t they use something heavier? The planner does come with a plastic cover (see it?) but I still think the cover should be thicker.

The difference between a regular planner and a family planner is the 7 sections you get to customize. Here are my sections:

My sections are Today (AKA to-do), work, money and fitness. I left 3 sections blank. If I decide to get this next year, I will probably label the sections differently. I did this in a rush. I’m okay with it plus I can easily cover up the sections names I don’t use with a label or washi tape.

I added note pages to the end of each month and a bill tracker to every month. The total cost with shipping was $47.00. That is still cheaper than an Erin Condren planner. Something else I would do differently is add note pages to the end of the planner. I didn’t do it this year because I thought it would be too bulky. argh. My one regret.

I can’t wait to start using it.

Here is my kikki.K medium lilac and gold planner:

I don’t have a problem with the rings (like many people do). The only issue I have is that it won’t lay flat. That isn’t a problem for me but I have noticed that most people don’t have this issue. Maybe with use, it will lay flat?

Like my Target ink pen? 😉 It is so pretty and new. I don’t want to write in it which is silly, I know.

That’s it for now. I’m all planner this, planner that. But that is mostly what is going on right now. I’m trying to figure out what works. The planner(s) are helping during the week. But my weekends are still a mess. I waste too much time…especially on Sundays. I like to do something in the morning (workout, chores, whatevs) and then get back in the bed for a couple of hours. My dog does not like that. He will pull on the covers until I get out of bed. Bad boy!

It will take a while to come up with a system. But I am very pleased with how tracking my time is working on week days. However, it doesn’t help with work at all. I don’t know what I need for that…magic.

I can’t wait til we hide from nothing

Looks like I will be working on International Gift Exchange Day (AKA Dec. 25). It will only be for about 5 hours though. I tried to get out of doing the gift thing for Xmas last year. Soooo did not work but at least I tried. :/ I only “have to” exchange gifts with 2 other people so it isn’t horrible.

Hi! My name is Baylor. I’m almost 9 months old. I don’t like having my picture taken.

I’m in the midst of puppy chaos. I said I would never potty train a puppy or a kid. Well…ARGH! How do people do this? My last 7 month old dog from the same shelter was trained so I hoped that an 8 month old would be too. I guess I got lucky last time. No, I know I got lucky. I got the best dog ever. Anyway, I’m using a crate to train him. If this works, I will consider it a miracle….and I do believe in miracles. At least he is getting in his crate. I’m so glad he doesn’t hate it.

It’s weird because I work at home so he sees me all day when he is in his crate. Yes, he whines from time to time. He is either extremely protective of me or extremely anxious. I would prefer neither. He only barks when he can’t see me, when someone else comes around and when he hears other small dogs bark in the neighborhood (rare). I hope he doesn’t have separation anxiety. It is too early to tell.

Adventures in puppyland…

I finally started listening to Serial. #Late I thought it was some fake crime show! Every time someone would mention it, I would think of all the unread fiction crime/mystery books I have on my Kindle. I’m not that interested in fiction but I die for true crime. A true crime podcast!!! That is my dream. Back to reality:  This is a real story. These are real people. And I won’t say anymore because it would probably be a spoiler.

Music for the week: Sharon Van Etten, Magic!, Jessie J, Sam Smith, Mary J. Blige, Ariana Grande, Mary Lambert, Carrie Underwood

TV for the week: Pretty Little Liars, Colbert Report

Movie of the week:  none

Book of the week: Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

Knitting projects of the week: I spent hours and I mean at least 40 hours on that shawl…and I messed it up. 😦 I was about 70% done. I tried to fix the mistake myself and that only made it worse. I guess the next time I made a mistake like that, I will take it to a knitting class and let the teacher fix it. It will cost me but I might learn something too.  I was really looking forward to wearing it.

I learn to knit in April and my biggest concern is that I have no idea how to fix mistakes. I’ve read about it and watched DVDs and YouTube videos on it…I don’t get it.

I know I said I wouldn’t start another chunky scarf but that was before I got this yarn. Most people make beautiful hats with this yarn but I see it and think why not make another scarf?! (I will only have 3 handmade scarves when I’m done with this one).

Here is my afghan so far:

And I cast on my sweater. Not enough done for a pic.

More stuff! I almost forgot to share my knitting project bags. I brought two from BrightCraft (an Etsy shop). Forget the bags, she has the best handmade stuff. If I didn’t know how to knit, I would have gone nuts ordering from her. (I try to stay away from knitted items because I think one day I’ll be able to make it, so why buy it from someone else?)

The first bag is purple with black cats. In this pic, it is housing my shawl. I will put my sweater in this bag after I rip out my shawl.

The other bag is a France print bag. I have my afghan in it:

Her bags are affordable when compared to other bags. They are also nicely made. I definitely recommend them.

Do it like it ain’t been done

SQUEAL!!!!!!!! I finished my scarf! Forget the ‘knitting projects’ section. This belongs at the beginning. 😉 I’m wearing it out tomorrow and here it is……

chunky scarf

This was my first real attempt at weaving in the ends and I think I did okay. If it falls apart then obviously I still suck at it. This scarf was so easy to make and I loved knitting it. Maybe one day I could make some for charity?..once I get better at weaving in the ends. It would be great to make matching hats and scarves but I’m bad at making hats. I plan to get better very soon (see below).

Now onto serious business. I read the book Write it Down, Make it Happen a decade ago. It is one of my favorite books and it changed my life. I can’t say that about many books. This past week I wrote down some short term goals I would like to accomplish in my paper journal. I’ll share the not so personal ones here. When people are posting their resolutions for 2015, I’ll link back to this entry. I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. #1 I hate holidays. #2 Why not start NOW? I didn’t wait until January to stop eating red meat and pork. I wanted to start ASAP. #3 The stats show they don’t work. So why bother?

Here are my goals I’m starting now (with a couple left out):

  • Have set hours. I’m going to try to stick to 5:30 to 3:30 with the hopes of eventually working 8 hours a day.
  • Do 60% of my work before lunch.

  • I’m going to be realistic with this one: Go to the free gym once a week. When it gets warmer, this goal will change. But for now I would like to walk 2-3 miles on the treadmill and if/when the gym is empty do weight lifting. (The gym is often empty – except in January. lol)

  • Do my practicum 3 days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. 45 minutes a day.

  • Finish my shawl.
  • Finish my hat I’m “working flat”.
  • Start a cardigan.
  • Start fingerless gloves
  • Make a hat in the round.
  • Start an afghan using at least two different colors.

  • Finish 35 books between now and December 2015. I would like to say read everyday but with everything going on that probably won’t happen. My practicum and other things are more important. I used to easily read 50 books a year.

Guinea Pigs

  • Stay on top of keeping their cage clean.

That is pretty much it. Now that I think about it I should probably include getting out of debt or some money goal. I’ll add that to my paper journal later.

Music for the week: Taylor Swift, Jessie J, Mary Lambert, Tristan Prettyman, Ellie Goulding, Ariana Grande, Lori McKenna, Train, Sia

I’m pleasantly surprised by Mary Lambert’s and Tristan Prettyman’s albums. I think Tristan said she recorded hers in TWO weeks. I was expecting something boring but it is pretty great. Taylor’s album had to grow on me. I’ve listened to it more than a dozen times. She spent two years on it. I was expecting something better. I would love if she did an acoustic version of 1989. (pleasepleaseplease) The acoustic snippets she included were damn good. The album is way too pop and I like pop.

TV for the week: Big Brother Australia, Army Wives, NBA basketball (yay! it’s back).

Movie of the week: none

Books of the week:  Beyond Belief: My secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape by Jenna Hill  & Lisa Pulitzer

Knitting projects of the week: Now that I’ve finished my scarf, I need to work on finishing my shawl. I want to start my cardigan but I have to buy the yarn first. The total cost of the yarn I want to use is about $30 (cheap by many people’s standards but not mine!)

Vegas Day 2 – It’s Britney, bitch!

I’m going in chronological order so the Britney section is in the second half of this post. Btw, day one is here.

I was on east coast time so I woke up at 4AM PST. The first thing on the agenda was the Bellagio Buffet. I had NO IDEA that my hotel was right across from The Bellagio. I thought I had a long walk. So I left at 6AM with a lot of time before the restaurant opened. I took this time to read (“Still Alice”) and take pictures. I was standing right across from Planet Hollywood and couldn’t contain my excitement for Britney:

Britney Spears
Britney Spears

I had many hours and many adventures before I would see Britney… Breakfast @ the Bellagio. I had no idea that they seat you. I thought you could pick where you wanted to sit. The food and service was good but when they crammed all the solo diners together, that made me very uncomfortable so I left. I had people on both sides of me. AWKWARD. I’m so glad I got to eat something before the other person came. I wanted dessert and maybe more pancakes 🙂 but the seating ruined that. I would only go back if I was with someone else. I will never dine there alone again.

After breakfast, I went back to the hotel to watch news and relax before my big walk to The Mirage to see the dolphins and tigers.

The Mirage

But first I went to Kardashian Khaos (closing October 30th). I brought a mug and a guitar pick. The mug was only $5 (on sale to get rid of inventory) and it is huge. If I had more room, I would have brought at least two.

I didn’t take any photos of the dolphins only video. 😦 (I can’t upload videos on here with my account). Watching the dolphins was the most relaxing part of my trip. I spent 45 minutes doing that. Then I went to see the tigers. I did take photos of the tigers.

Then I went to The Mirage buffet for take out. The food was good. I think most of the buffets in Vegas are for seafood lovers and I’m not one of those so…blah. Then I tried to relax on the sofa until 3:00 and headed out to The Luxor for the Titanic exhibit. Oh my. What a freaking walk! Thank god they had a free tram. It was so confusing. I’m glad other people were there trying to do the same thing. I was lost and almost gave up.

The Titanic exhibit was nice and sad (of course). I definitely recommend it. They had real artifacts from the ship. No photos or videos allowed. After that even though my feet were beginning to hurt, I went on to Mandalay Bay since the tram went there. That place is huge and the aquarium is all the way in the back. My feet were begging me at this point to stop but I kept going.

I’d read reviews of the aquarium and wasn’t expecting much but it was nice. I’d go again.

I had to take a pic of a Buddha in a fish tank. Nice touch. 😉 One more photo cause I love fish:

They had sharks, snakes, the cutest turtles, sting rays etc.

By this time my feet and legs were killing me. PLUS I had overdosed on Afrin. Long story. I’ll try to shorten it. My cold came back I couldn’t find the children’s medicine I usually take so instead of walking to Walgreens to get it, I went to the ABC store and all they had was Afrin which I had never used before. I sprayed too much because I couldn’t feel it and I was dizzy. At this point, I knew I couldn’t walk all the way back to my hotel. I didn’t know taxis accept credits cards in Vegas so I foolishly used the ATM. The fees. The FEES!

Anyway, as I was waiting for someone else to use the ATM, I felt so dizzy, I thought I would faint. All I could think of was: I cannot faint right now, not before I see Britney Spears. I was sure someone was going to have to call an ambulance. Obviously that did not happen. I got money from the ATM, walked as far as I could, got a taxi and took some pain killers when I got to the hotel room.

I relaxed for a couple of hours, took a shower, put my little black dress on and got ready for Ms. Spears. When I got there I was the only one in the section even though it was 15 minutes until show time. I wondered would I get to talk to any Brit fans and I did! The woman beside me was solo too so we talked. This was her second time seeing Brit. She saw her on the “Circus” tour. (This was my first time). This was the closest I’ve ever been to a club experience. I loved it. At first I was extremely apprehensive and barely moved. But then the other people moved closer to the pit while I stayed back near my seat by myself and danced! It was a great experience.

Enough about me. What about Britney? She was amazing! She was so happy. She smiled a lot. She isn’t always like this so I felt extremely lucky to be there when Brit was in a good mood. I made eye contact with smiley Britney. OMG. !!!111!!! I almost died. It was so surreal. The whole night. This pic was taken right after the eye contact:

Queen of pop
Queen of pop

The band was great. I didn’t like all of the versions of the songs. My favorite was “Til the World Ends”. I thought “Circus” and other songs fell a little flat. I just didn’t really like the arrangements. Brit interacted with the crowd and actually acknowledged we were there! I was not expecting that at all from other reviews. So many people talk about her being robotic and dead in the eyes. Well she was fine on October 15.

I could go on. Here is a video of Britney performing Womanizer:

Would I go see her show again? If I go to Vegas within the next two years, it would crush me to not see her again but I might want to see something else. If she releases another album (I’m sure she will) then I will want to see her again because the setlist will be different. This is all up to when my mom wants to go and when I have money. I’m not going back alone…but Britney is worth it. Another pic:

After the show, I went back to my hotel and smiled myself to sleep. 🙂 Day 3 & 4 coming together in the next post. Day two was my favorite day despite how it ended with me barely being able to walk.

Don’t be shy girl, so they like you

(‘weekly’ & knitting at the bottom of this post)

I really get it now. Working only 40 hours a week is a luxury. To be able to do that is a privilege – especially these days. I also realize why I hate holidays. It creates obligation and I like freedom. I don’t want to have to fake shit on certain days.

I went to the knitting class. It was somewhat of a waste of time. I have the skills, I’m just a slow knitter which is frustrating because I do everything else fast.  Problem# 1: I was the only one in the class.  There was one “teacher” and she had a friend (also a knitter) with her.

I don’t know where to begin. The knitting part or social issues? I was only semi-taught one new thing. #fail. The social thing is what really got me.

We in the fiber arts are chatty.

Oh fuck off on telling me how different I am. I have been around social people enough. They are CONSTANTLY telling me how weird/bad I am. I don’t need it from another person as long as I live. I get it. You need to talk. I don’t. It’s really that simple. I’m the most introverted introvert you’ll ever meet.

The friend said several times that she didn’t want me to feel excluded. Well I’m not social so I don’t feel that way. What is the point of explaining it? I won’t even waste my time right now. I’ll just say I haven’t gotten that many ‘how dare you be so quiet’ references in a loooooong time. (And that is only because I haven’t been stuck around new people for 3 hours in a long time.)

People. Social people. Must. Live. With. Them.

They make me want to tear my hair out. Btw, if you don’t want to exclude someone you might begin by not constantly pointing out how quiet the person is. Just a thought.

Music for the week: Lucy Hale,  Ellie Goulding, Mariah Carey, Miranda Lambert, LP, Sarah McLachlan, Colbie Calliat, Edwin McCain.

RIP Casey Kasem. I listened to his show every single week once I discovered it. Now I don’t even listen to music on the radio anymore.

TV for the week: NBA playoffs, Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars

I skipped all of the game on Tuesday night due to Eric Cantor losing the primary. I was amazed, in shock. I watched the news all night. I was hoping the Heat would make this a series but it doesn’t look like it. Bummer. I want more NBA games! I haven’t watched a second of the World Cup yet. That will probably change today.

Movie of the week: none. I may watch Philomena today…or save it for next week. I’m not eager to watch it. Obvs.

Knitting projects of the week: I was hoping to have my hat from knitting class but I didn’t finish it. I do have some works in progress to share. WARNING: I am really into fuzzy/frizzy yarn right now. One day I’m sure I will hate this yarn…probably soon.

I have a long way to go on this Out of this World Cowl. This yarn isn’t the easiest to work with. I would not recommend it to to a total beginner.  I just noticed that it looks like it has yarn coming out the side…no that is just the sloppy way I took the photo.

And here is a complete tragedy: it dead?
scarf…is it dead?

I got so far with it. More than 50% done….I hate traveling with my projects. I took this scarf everywhere. This morning I noticed a half of row came off the needle. (!!!) A more experienced knitter would know how to fix this but I have no clue so I’ll probably just throw it away. 😦 Or I may just frog it (rip it out). I dunno. I loved how warm this scarf felt. I may try to fix it. I already had plans to wear this scarf when it gets cold.

Finally here is my child sized hat:

hat for a kid
hat for a kid

I know it looks strange because it is on 4 double pointed needles. I’m about to start working on the crown of the hat. This is a mixture of patterns. I’m kind of making it up as I go. I don’t know whether it will be good enough to give to a kid. I have made mistakes with it but it could be wearable? If I give it to someone, it will be free so whatevs. I have never been so envious of a hat before. It is sooooooooooooo warm. I put my hand on the inside and feel the warmth. LOL.  It is 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Normally I wouldn’t make an off-white hat for me because white shows dirt so easily. That is why I made it child sized so someone else could have it if it turns out okay. But if I had made this in an adult size, I would keep it for myself. That is how warm it is. I cannot wait to make one for me in a different color.

One more thing from knitting class:

You are brave to learn knitting from the internet.

Um, what exactly does that mean? How else would I learn? No one in my family knits. I only know of one person who knits and she hates people (I totally get her) so I wouldn’t dream of asking her to show me anything. Oooh! Another person in the fiber arts community who isn’t all that chatty. She talks more than me though.

Anyway I have to do my “How I taught myself how to knit post”. I will probably do it on my week off from work but I don’t feel like I have all things covered. For example, I don’t know exactly how to tell someone how to learn circular knitting on your own. I have used about 10 resources and I still don’t know what I’m doing. I will probably post something and then update it as I go.

Gotta go. I feel crappy. I have already studied today. I’m going to take some pain medication, then a nap and see what happens then….knitting, reading or studying? Decisions. #MyLifeIsSoToughOnSundays (no work. woohoo!)

Oh! P.S. Here is new yarn from my stash. JoAnn’s had a 5 for $15 sale. I couldn’t resist so I brought these skeins:

mostly acrylic. I see gloves, hats, and scarves in my future.

IKEA = home

We spent most of our time at IKEA. We barely spent any time inside the mall. Here is what I got from there:

lucky bamboo

plant & vase from IKEA. brought separately.

That’s it! I know your mind is blown. Oh, I did buy my sister a birthday gift from IKEA…but yeah that is all. I didn’t buy anything from the mall. I saw one thing I really wanted: a pair of yoga pants from Bebe. They were $64 with an additional 40% off. Even that is out of my (current) price range. But now I wish I had them. I still can’t justify the price. They were gorgeous and so soft!

I had to take one pic of my favorite part of IKEA – the displays:

It was a nice trip to Northern VA but I never want to do it that way again. The traffic was horrible. Next time I have to stay overnight. I’ve driven to DC with no problems and Potomac Mills with no problems in the past. So…maybe it is new roadwork? I dunno but the drive sucked. That is my only complaint. One more good thing: The restaurant in IKEA is pretty good and the prices rocked. I had meatballs and potatoes. I love meatballs. 🙂

I cannot wait for my solo hotel getaway. It is this Saturday-Sunday. I want to go now!! *whines* 😉

Today is a nice day. Sunny and 70 degrees. I just got back in from outside. I got a bunch of homework done in an hour. I need to work that fast inside the house. I know I have said this many times but I love being outside. I love nature. I love warm weather!

Music for the week: India.Arie, Lea Michele, Christina Perri, Eric Hutchinson, Shakira, Sara Evans, Joan Osborne, Jonatha Brooke

Why did I ever stop listening to Eric Hutchinson?! Big mistake.

TV for the week: basketball, Desperate Housewives

Movie of the week:  I might watch 12 Years a Slave or I might save it for next week.

I typed the same thing last week. Ha! I will watch it eventually.

Books of the week:  Hidden by Catherine McKenzie, Die My Love by Kathryn Casey, Forgiveness: 21 Days to Forgive Everyone for Everything by Iyanla Vanzant

I didn’t know Iyanla had a new book out until I saw it on the library site. I have it for two weeks. Better get started.

Feeling like a fool for trying

I was hoping to have more than just clothes pics for this entry. Maybe pics of a clean house?

I’m so disappointed. (Story of my life). The cleaning service wouldn’t clean my house. I said the main things I wanted clean were the bathroom and the kitchen. Well my counters in the kitchen weren’t CLEAN enough for them to um, clean. Ha. Oh well. Thanks for nothing. Too bad I already paid for it. Should I just write it off as a loss? I’m supposed to clean before they clean? WHAT? I have used maid services 3 times in my life and I have never had a problem.

The funny thing is, I did clean everything first. Clearly it wasn’t up to their standards. 😦 Anyway, I would have rather them clean what they could (the bathroom etc) then to just do nothing. ARGH! I’m glad I wasn’t there when they came. I would have died or cried while she told me they wouldn’t clean it. Actually I would have just asked them to clean the rest of the house. FORGET THE KITCHEN! They don’t understand. Anything is better than nothing.

So I don’t know what to do. I guess I will do my best (which isn’t good enough) and try to clean it on my own.  I don’t even have a working vacuum. The new one my mom gave me won’t pick up. If they call me back about rescheduling again I will say I haven’t had time to clean yet. Money wasted.

Thrifting time! I brought these clothes about a month ago. I want to say I didn’t pay more than $3.99 for each blouse.

This is why I can’t’ just justify buying new clothes. Most of my favorite clothes are from thrift stores. I don’t need anymore clothes!!!! I would like to visit a vintage store or a consignment shop one day though. Maybe just window shop?

Culinary school is dead. I did find another program that might work…but I read things like this: (Should I go to culinary school?) and I know the environment isn’t for me. It looks like I will be going back to school to finish what I started 4 years ago – ha. The plan is to go back this winter/spring. More on this later.
