I will not grow weary

I was going to come here and say (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman is Aretha’s best song. Hands down.  But I’ve been listening to her catalog nonstop recently, and I can no longer say that. She has so many great songs. Her voice! Wow. I’m sad for her family and friends. 😦 And for everyone, I guess.

Bad transition – I applied to be a paid email tarot reader! I submitted my photo and an application on Monday. They contacted me on Thursday. Now I have to do a 500-word fake tarot reading. I’m going to do it this weekend and have my mentor give me feedback and then submit it to them.

The pay isn’t great. It’s bad unless a person can easily do a 500-word reading. I can’t. So I will basically be getting paid pennies for this. I can decide on my pay. I think I’m taking the lower wage (for reasons I’ll explain later if I get picked). I can make about $6.50 for a 500-word reading and $12.00 for a 1,000-word reading. Sigh. If it were easy for me to come up with a comprehensive reading, I would not complain. It’s good practice and blah, blah, blah. However, my readings are usually 150 words or less. LOL. Now I will have to come up with 500 words? Haha.

The pay isn’t my biggest issue. My main concern is that they have a 24-hour turn around time. That’s ridiculous. They should say 48 hours. Who do they think can do readings with a 24-hour deadline? People without day jobs? Yes. But I have a day job. I can’t just stop everything to do a reading. If I get accepted, I don’t see myself staying there long unless I get great at pushing out 500-word readings. Please don’t ask me to come up with 1000 words too often. That’s laughable. What if the person asks a yes or no question? I get those often when I do free readings.

Speaking of the free tarot readings, I will still be a member of that site. I will probably only do 1 free reading a week IF I get approved to do paid readings on the other site. So I’ll see what happens. If they give a job offer, I think I’ll only work 3 weeks out of every month…if that is an option. I know of one person who works there. But she does telephone tarot readings. She has never done email readings. She seems to indicate the scheduling is pretty flexible, but I don’t know if they’ll give me a week off a month. I hope so!

I have a feeling if I get denied, it might be a blessing. 24 hours to do a reading? Uh, I have to work and sleep somewhere in that 24 hours. Tsk. Tsk. Talk about pressure. I can’t stand pressure. Sigh. I’m aware that I don’t HAVE TO do this. 😉

Work is work. I’m talking about my day job now. No more tears, but I have felt like crying since I last posted. But I’m determined. I will get this new stuff. Talk about pressure. I’m trying to not let it get to me. Wednesday was okay. Thursday afternoon sucked. That’s life.

Woohoo! I get a decent bonus next week!! I think I’m going to buy my screen door with that money. If I have any left over (and I hope I do), it’ll go to paying off debt. I’m going to measure my door this weekend.

This week I…

Music of the week (my top 8 most listened to): Jason Mraz, Aretha Franklin, Lauren Daigle, Camila Cabello, Pitch Slapped, Janelle Monae, Demi Lovato, Kesha

TV of the week:  Big Brother, I’m a Killer, Castle Rock

Movie of the week: None

Podcasts of the week: True Crime Garage, Fresh Air, What Should I Read Next?, Wrongful Conviction

Books of the week:
I finished reading Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower by Brittney Cooper. 5 stars. I would recommend this book to everyone. It changes the way I see things.

Plans for the weekend: Grocery shopping, working on my course, and doing a 500 word “fake” tarot reading to finish my application. I might work on my tarot website if I have extra time. I will probably spend all my time trying to get the perfect 500 words. I have to time myself to see how long it takes.

No overtime for me this weekend. I worked extra hours during the week. Can’t wait for the weekend.

Thanks for reading. Have a marvelous weekend! 🙂
